Our Model | Bridges of Faith
The Session Format

Every Session Follows a Structured Format

Consistency creates safety. When participants know what to expect, they arrive ready to engage honestly — not defensively.

  1. 1
    Welcome and Introductions
Each session opens with greetings and a brief welcome that sets the tone of mutual respect and shared purpose.
  2. 2
    Opening Prayers
Muslim and Christian participants offer opening prayers from their own traditions, grounding the session in faith from both sides.
  3. 3
    Sequential Scripture Reading
Relevant passages from the Hebrew Bible, Qur'an, and New Testament are read in sequence — letting the sacred texts speak together.
  4. 4
    Guided Discussion Prompts
Carefully prepared prompts guide participants into thoughtful dialogue — exploring what the texts reveal, where traditions converge, and where they differ.
  5. 5
    Shared Reflection and Closing Prayer
The session closes with a moment of shared reflection and a closing prayer, honoring what was said and the courage it took to say it.

How We Facilitate

Three Principles That Hold Every Conversation Together

Carefully Facilitated
All conversations are carefully facilitated. A trained moderator guides each session with clear expectations of respect and accountability — so dialogue stays productive and safe.
No Conversion Attempts
The group does not permit attempts to convert one another within the context of the dialogue community. This boundary is what makes genuine encounter possible.
Humility, Sincerity, and Love
Participants are encouraged to ask difficult questions in a spirit of humility, sincerity, and love. Hard questions are welcome here — the spirit in which they are asked matters most.
Community gathering
"Dialogue unfolds over time through repeated engagement, allowing trust to develop naturally."
— Bridges of Faith, Our Model
What We Ask of Every Participant

A Space Built on Trust and Accountability

The dialogue community works because every participant agrees to the same expectations. These are not rules imposed from outside — they are the shared values that make honest encounter possible.

  • Listen Before You Respond We come to understand, not to win. Each voice is heard before a response is offered.
  • Respect Personal Stories What is shared in the dialogue community stays there. Confidentiality is honored.
  • Assume Good Intent We assume sincerity and ask questions in good faith — even when we disagree.
  • No Mockery, No Pressure We do not mock, demean, or pressure others. Contempt has no place here.
  • No Conversion Attempts We do not attempt to convert one another during our sessions. This is what keeps the space safe for everyone.
